HOLLY WORTHINGTON

Solargraphs
As a fine art photographer, Holly works with a wide variety of photographic processes. The images here began as paper negatives in simple pinhole can cameras. The pinhole cameras are left in different landscapes to capture the trails of the sun for 6 months or more. After the long exposure, the negatives are scanned and inverted in Photoshop.
All of the images in this series were taken in or near Scots Bay, Nova Scotia.
Solargraph, from Don’s Shop, Scots Bay by Holly Worthington
Holly is originally from Ohio. She moved to the eastern United States to pursue her education and a teaching career. In 1996 she fell in love with Nova Scotia when she came for a month with her husband and daughters. She has since returned as often as possible every year, and for many years she and her husband owned a farmhouse in Scots Bay. Now she travels with a small trailer and a portable darkroom.
Throughout the month of August 2025 more of Holly’s work will be on display in a solo exhibit at The Charles Macdonald Concrete House Museum Gallery in Centreville, Nova Scotia.
