SHIVAM RAJDEV

Philosophy

Photography can transport the audience back in time to relive the moment. This shared experience has the power to influence the actions of the society.

Style

My focus is on creating wildlife art. My style has gradually evolved from taking sharp photos & action shots to doing creative experimentation & animalscapes. I believe these habitat shots evoke emotion and tell meaningful stories.

Technique

My emphasis now is on scouting a location and figuring out a composition that could work. Wildlife photography requires patience and sometimes even after waiting for many hours, I may not have anything to show for it. However, I quite enjoy taking images with intentionality.

I am as comfortable using a wide-angle, macro or super telephoto lens to achieve my objectives.

Background

I started my professional career in India and have since worked and lived in Japan, Singapore, USA and Canada. My photography journey started in 2021 when I saved some time commuting to and from work because of Covid.

Over the last couple of years, I have photographed in various countries in North America, South America, Asia, and Africa. I was lucky to spend time with snow leopards in the Indian Himalayas, seeing swordbill hummingbirds in the high altitudes of Ecuador, or watching several hunts in the vast savannah of Kenya.

Publications

My work has been published in Bird Photographer of the Year, Journal of Wildlife Photography, and WildArt Photographer of the Year.
